Located in Krishnagar city of Nadia district, one of the oldest municipalities of Bengal with a rich legacy of culture and literature, the institution caters to the educational aspirations of students from diverse backgrounds with a consistently successful alumni statistics, revealing its inspirational academic outcome with a holistic learning approach model. Several pass out students have been placed in institutions of national and international repute, namely Max Planck Institute, Germany, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA, University of Alberta, Canada; Georgetown University, Washington DC, IISC Bangalore, IISER Bhopal, ISRO, IIT Kharagpur, IISER, Kolkata etc. Affiliated to the University of Kalyani, the institution offers 15 undergraduate and 4 post-graduate programmes across the humanities and science streams. Accredited by NAAC with A grade in 2008 and 2015 and B++ grade in 2024, this ISO certified and RUSA funded institution has proved its academic accountability by achieving the status of College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) in 2010.

A conducive learning mechanism with support services is ensured through well maintained infrastructural facilities, namely the spacious classrooms, well- equipped practical laboratories, seminar halls, enriched library resources of more than 1,00,000 books and e-journals, computer centre, common rooms, canteen, hostels, playgrounds, gardens, museum, gymnasium etc. A dedicated team of energetic and experienced faculty and staff members are the driving force of the institutional progress to address the paradigm shift of the modern education framework towards the National Curricular Credit Framework in pursuance of the National Education Policy (NEP). Being a government college under the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, the appointed faculty members belong to the West Bengal Educational Service (WBES) and West Bengal Senior Education Service (WBSES) cadre of the Government of West Bengal, ensuring the best quality education imparted by the college. Faculty members adopt diverse strategies of teaching and evaluation with a perfect blend of conventional and innovative practices to ensure effective implementation of the institutional goals, academic planning and strategic development, focussed to elevate the institution’s profile. The impressive international and national publications of faculty members showcase their research potential, enabling a research oriented teaching and learning mechanism. The formal learning is complemented through several co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to enable students evolving as more balanced and developed individuals. An active NSS unit of the college shoulders its social responsibility through several extension activities, and the newly introduced NCC unit has also started its journey from 2023-24 to develop trained young individuals with organized character, ideals of national service and capacity for leadership. The college campus houses diverse set of flora and fauna with a serene and picturesque landscape, offering ample opportunities for research and sustainable development. The eco-friendly practices of the institution such as tree plantation campaign, Solar photo voltaic power plant, medicinal plant gardens, waste disposal, environmental consciousness and awareness campaigns to promote re-connection with the natural world and motivate conservation among stakeholders.
